After his unexpected comic book The Ring in 2002, director Gore Verbinski encountered Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl – the second latest film based on the Disney theme park (the first of which is Our Country). When a group of pirates led by Captain Barbo (Jeffrey Rush) kidnapped Governor Swann’s (Jonathan Price) daughter Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) and disembarked their ship, Black Pearl, Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), a young man who Elizabeth plans to rescue despite that he is promised another. But he can’t do it alone, so he gets ship captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). Together, they chase the Black Pearls, but they quickly discover that the captain and crew are not your usual pirates. Cursed to be caught between the living and the dead, Barbossa and her husband look like skeletons in the moonlight. When it turns out that the curse can only break Elizabeth’s blood, Jack and Will have to compete against time and fight the living dead to save the governor’s daughter.
